here i am lads
sorry for the absense people
ok where i am and where im at?
im in new zealand for a month. first week christian teaching, second week community project. i lead a team to a refuge for young girls found in prostituion, they were away for the week so we did up there house.
it was good
mates lifes good this end, just been processibng alot of shit in my head. theres actually some quality xtians out there, who pelive in the same stuff as some of u boys, leftys for christians perhaps slightly right in the normal world. but gopod stuff focusing on living by principle sof action going out to the needs not wainting for god.
ok so what ive learnt
ok firtsly i leant a bit about origional creation - going through old alogoric genesis, i dig that story. god made male and demal in his image (that was adama - not manle adam). then god wnated adama to be in relationship with another being so he split the being in to 2 to love and work with each other in relationship.so brought the female bart of the being ionto being.
its awsome man we were mad eto live inr elationship with woman, never menat for breakups heartachs ()yes and gays not thast this is what the blogs about - but theres my belief)
we menat man to live in relationship with female kind.
ok foget that my next point
heard a great quote
augusitne said god the divine became human so that humans can then live a mroe divine life
bonehoeffer said the divine became human so that humans cvan live more human
the point = take some fuckign intiative with your live speople, this is what the chap wa ssaying. we were maf de human, live like it. i guess its spose to stop us been apathetic, trying to show the huge potential we have in life. mate its so true how much we can achieve. think abotut he little initiaives, this blog, gings eco watrrior craze.
the guy who started join me that cult that millions of people joined just because they wnated to do something.
i dunno im turnign24 in 6 months and i dobnt wana waste time. this isnt overtly christian its just baiout we were mafde human. humans cana cghieve and acomplish and affetc others, we can do alot. but many of us just do enough to get by.
alright enoug
lets hear it people - what u thinking?
ps really sorry not gonna read through this and ive typed fast.
hope its not too bad

Easy mo fo,
Yes, I think a little light editing wouldn't go amiss; helpful for those non-code breakers among us.
Never the less, a good point Jus. I am not normally a man to jump in on posts such as these but humour me for a while; perhaps a more knowledgeable man will follow.
I never thought about Genesis like that, it actually really captivated me. I like the concept of man & female together at the start, and as a direct human embodiment of God. Shows that God's femininity is as important as 'his' masculinity.
(Quick point: did you mean to call this first human 'Adama' instead of 'Adam'; cos that makes me think of Commander Adama from Battlestar Gallactica)
Also, I think I do enough just to get by. I have hopes & dreams of being a great man of God, but can't be arsed to actually become that.
I would like to do more 'radical' stuff for my faith, but at the same time I don't want to fall into that common youthful trap of misguided enthusiasm. I feel that I am more suited to respecting the realities of our world & how our faith fits into it.
Although, reading back over this, I do sound a bit like a sell-out.
Not much like a Revolutionary who would have his face on the Big Issue.
Well, at least I can grow old in the comfort money & still go to Heaven. Result.
Ha ha the typos are awesome! I don't want to go into the Genesis thing right now but I might come back to it if thats ok.
I really like your point about us just doing enough. I'm such lazy ass that sums me up exactly. I've become so apathetic and cynical in my old age that I don't ever allow my faith to drive me to anything radical. If I think back to my teenage years I was set to change the world and now I'm just happy to be in bed by ten o'clock! Who came in and robbed me of my hopea and dreams? Is it just that we realise are youth has misguided our enthusiasms or does age, responsibltiy and the world just get the better of us?
Right now my life is smoothly ticking along the road to 'happiness'... good education, well paid job, nice house etc ... These aren't the things I truely value yet somehow they have become what my existence is about. The things I hold as important have been pushed to one side and always take second place to Uni or work etc.
I need a new plan. Ideas?
sounds like you're having the ridic frolics mate
talk (e-mail) properly soon
Fantastic! We need the gospel to be liberated from the private realm of our personal, private faith and be allowed to wreak havoc on the wider world. Apathy is not an option!
We need to rise up, work together, fulfill our prophetic potentiall and actually make some waves. Vive la Revolution!
I think it's not feasable to think we can live normal lives and change the world at the same time. Im a student so my focus is turning in my work on time, getting good grades, trying to maintain some kind of a social life among these work-obsessed Canadians. If you have a job, that's your priority. Then there's family, friends... everything demands your time. When I worked in my gap year I intended to write in my time off but I never did and I think it's the same issue with wanting to effect change in the world- its gotta be your main focus or the rest of your life will get in the way.
That's one thing that's really frustrating right now- im stuck in uni for the next two years and I want to be out doing things. Im not saying you cant have a normal life, but it makes it easier to be complacent.
justyn! about f-ing time. this is the justyn i want to see...fantastic!
its not a craze.
and cat i hate to say it but it is possible to focus on more than one thing! there's sooooooooooo much we can do whatever our position in life!
i dig this post.
all in all i say: amen.
nice to see that the post caught some attention.
looks like apathy is a bit of a common cord. timmy oakes im with u on that 18 and ready to change the world thing. i was at adelirious gig last night (no i didnt go there to watch them) and as thousands of kids had their arms in the air praying i stood there folded arms and thoguht what would happen if we did all actually live the values in scripture and the faith and hope to live it out.
heard another good teacher the other day he had 3 guarantees
god loves us
heaven
suffering
i digged that, gods love the hope of heaven abnd the fact that life is painful- i digged it.
Scriv ull like this, met a guy the other day and was like 'Jesus is Lord everything else is grey"
i told him gay scholars would sya the same thing
trev adama was not a typo its the hebrew
oh and trev nice to hear from u bro
Jon- i agree there's a lot we can do, as usual my first statement was a tad rash. What I mean is there's limitations. For example, I cant be working in a Russian orphanage because im in Vancouver writing about sex and being gay. In the same way, you can be green and planet friendly but if you didnt have a job you could be living off the land Good Life-style. I guess it depends how much you're willing to sacrifice and how much of a difference you want to make. I think you have to be really committed (or fanatical!) in order to not be sucked into apathy.
trev, you arent a code breaker? then what do you do all day? are you really an MI5 agent at all?
right, time to dialogue (new post modern christian word that is growing tired). I'm reading a flowery self help book at the moment that geri halliwell was in heat magazine reading a while ago! (how sad is that) but its actually a really amazing book.
The guy talks about how we need to learn discipline to face problems in life rather than running away from them, and this process gives us wisdom.
anyways, this post reminded me of a quote from it: 'spiritually evolved people, by virtue of their discipline and love, are people of extraordinary competence, and in their competence they are called on to serve the world, and in their love they answer the call.they are, inevitably, therefore, people of great power, although the world may behold them as quite ordinary people, since more often than not they will excercise their power in quiet, or even hidden ways'
so would you rather be george bush or spiderman?
my point is, we can go about our ordinary lifes being quite extraordinary just by changing our attitudes to situations.
sure, massive problems like poverty and debt seem insurmountable, but we can either stick our head under a pillow and ignore it, or we can face up to them and do as much as we can, and chuck another starfish in!
cat i remember as a student i was lazy bout all things helpful. its easy to be less lazy if your in the next stage of things or so i've found. own house, job....
better platform to work from. so agree with your rash comment too.
i agree jodes, our attitude and manner towards people and life can be pro-active and ordinarily doing something revolutionary. The revolution is jsut so small, may affect one perrson sort of a revolution.
I totally agree with living our lives and having our family and jobs and still "chucking another starfish in" (i don't get the revelance of the starfish BTW?) and making a difference.
Maybe it's easier to go and do something drastic for 6 months and feels more like your making a difference, coz you see more change.
the starfish story:
on a beach, in a land far, far away, all of the starfish in the sea got washed up on the sand. without water they were slowly dying. a man walking on the beach noticed a small boy walking along throwing starfish back into the water one by one.
the man walked up to the boy, and said 'look at this beach, there are millions of starfish everywhere, do you really think you can save them all by yourself?'
the little boy continued to throw starfish back in one by one. he said 'I saved that one...and that one...and that one'
and they all lived happily ever after. The end.
Sleep well my little ones
